Hyundai Santa Fe vs. Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

There's plenty for Savannah, Beaufort, and Hilton Head Island drivers to love about the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, and the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport! The SUVs are sharp looking with performance, interior, pricing, and technology specs that work for every need, whether everyday or packed up for getaways. A few factors though, should be weighed in deciding which one to go with.

Two Pricing Ranges
Both models are fairly priced, but with a difference that may have bearing on which to choose. The 2017 Santa Fe SE, Limited, SE Ultimate, and Limited Ultimate have an MSRP range of $30,800-$39,400 for FWD and $32,550-$41,150 for AWD. Of a slightly lower price point is the MSRP range for the 2017 Santa Fe Sport, which is $25,350-$36,500 for FWD, and $27,100-$38,200 for AWD

Strong GDI Performance
Hyundai stands out with D-CVVT GDI engines that make a formidable force on the road. The Santa Fe has a slightly more aggressive 290-hp 3.3L V6 with 252 lb. ft. torque, while the Santa Fe Sport has a 185-hp 2.4L four-cylinder with 178 lb. ft. torque, and a 240-hp 2.0L four-cylinder with 260 lb. ft. torque  for the 2.0Ts. All are supported by SHIFTRONIC® six-speed automatic transmission, and Drive Mode Select, as well as optional active cornering control AWD. Towing capacity may be influential, with the Santa Fe having 5,000 lbs., and the Santa Fe Sport having 2,000-3,500 lbs.

The driver's seat has eight-way power adjustments,and there's a split-folding third-row bench seat.

  • 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport: Smaller but no less impressive dimensions define the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, which has a 185" length, 74" width, and 66.1" height, and a more sculpted grille.
